ABOUT US

The Center

Hands of Love and Joy Orphanage and Childcare Center is a non-governmental, non-profit organization which was established in 2012.  The heart of the Center is to provide and care for orphaned and destitute children.  Whether a child needs help because of death, abandonment or extreme poverty, HOLJ wants to center them in their faith while providing for their physical, emotional and academic needs.

The Founding Directors - Charles and Betty Mukasa

Charles was born in the central region of Uganda. He was forced to drop out of school prematurely because his family could not afford the school fees. He gave his life to the Lord and began to preach the gospel in 1988.  In 1995, he began to pastor and within a year met his wife Betty.  They were married in 1996.  Though Betty had a child before meeting Charles, they have no children together.  Together they work to strengthen families in their local community as well as care for the orphaned, widowed and destitute.
